Dogs of the Future
(Oils over Acrylics on Illustration Board 18″ x 23″ NOT FRAMED)
Note from Keith: There is nothing better than a tremendously creative and original title for a painting. Sometimes these gems take days to think of …
….. So-o-o-o…. Yes, there is a lot of metal in this one. As a matter of fact, outside of a few stars, that’s about all there is. Given that, it was important that the metal looked convincing. For some reason, metal has a stigma of being an elusive target to paint. I don’t see it that way. It reflects and distorts its environment to varying degrees. As an added bonus for us illustrators, it can also rust, bend, rip, puncture, dull down, shine up, and melt – versatile stuff, that metal.
I wanted to do an action piece for this cover but the difference in scale between dogs and dragons is tremendous. It was a trick fitting them into the same frame without making the dogs microscopic.
